Parklane Gallery’s artists offer an unmatched variety of art for every taste and every venue.
Sherry was born in Shanghai. Surrounded by a culture thousands of years old, she developed a deep appre- ciation for the spirit of Chinese art. She left her job as an accountant to attend Shanghai University of Fine Art and graduated with honors . As she traveled through China, her early oil paintings focused on landscapes and villages. She had multiple exhibitions at the Shanghai Fine Art Museum—the only gallery that exhibited works of contemporary artists at that time.
After moving to Seattle, she has spent a decade as a graphic and UX designer and her artist’s journey has evolved to pure abstraction. With a deep interest in western calligraphy based on ancient scriptures, Sherry now incorporates these traditions into her series of collages. Her current material for expression is Chinese rice paper: though fragile, it is surprisingly versatile with transitions of color that are beautifully subtle and luminescent. Finding the balance in the chaos, the creative freedom seems limitless.
