Van Gogh's Solace. Oil on canvas, 24x30. A painting of the lavender garden of the St. Remy Hospital where Van Gogh lived for one year and painted many of his best known works. I have changed the garden in places and have added a small building for Van Gogh to find beauty and respite and paint if he were so inclined. I have such respect for the man as a painter but also for his anguished soul. This painting is mostly from my imagination in my desire to give comfort and solace to him and provide him a space of peace.
