Having always been an artist, Karen Bakke’s career path in illustration, product design, and post-production for TV and film is now truly linear as a fine artist. She quickly found her directive both in oil painting and plein air several years ago and paints across western states and frequents Yosemite. Karen enjoys traveling to juried art competitions and has never limited herself to any one subject when painting en plein air. Karen is a former president of Plein Air Washington Artists. She shows seasonally and is represented by the Scott Milo Gallery and the LaConner Arts Foundation. She has had her work in many gallery shows throughout the west. Painting “en plein air” gives me instant satisfaction of the vibrancy of the moment. Creating in the studio allows me the time to experiment and flourish. My drive and diverse experience in art awards me with the wings to take on any challenge and a variety of subject matter. There is a constant endeavor to transparently convey my passion and joy.
