Megan Veldee is a northwest artist passionate about creating beauty in the genres of landscape, still life and portraiture. She is proficient in a variety of media, choosing to focus recently on soft pastel painting.
Megan received formal training in art and design at the University of Washington. She became an art docent at Peter Kirk Elementary while her children were in attendance, and later developed and taught her own drawing program for children and elementary education teachers.
Megan is an award-winning soft pastel artist and has exhibited in several juried International Open Exhibitions. She is a Signature member of the Northwest Pastel Society.
Soft pastels are pure pigment compressed into usable sticks using a minimum of chemical binders. The pigments are the same used in high quality oil paints. A special archival paper is used to permanently bind the pastels, but the surface should not be touched and thereby requires protection by glass. Megan’s art available at Parklane Gallery is mounted on board and framed in classic plein air frames with Museum glass.
