Phyllis & Larey McDaniel

Larey was born in Wallowa, Oregon and got his first clarinet and camera at about the same time in Bremerton, Washington. He’s been enthralled with both art forms ever since and has created a professional life that neatly intertwines the two, playing bass clarinet with the Seattle Symphony until retiring in 2014 and showing his photography at Parklane Gallery in Kirkland since 2001.

Phyllis was born in Fargo, North Dakota, studied music at Augsburg College in Minneapolis and is a University of Washington graduate. She has been a professional musician as well as an interior designer and photographer, displaying her fine art photography at the EAFA Gallery, Shack Art Center, the Kenmore Art Show, Era Living venues and Parklane Gallery.

Larey and Phyllis met while adjunct faculty at Seattle’s Cornish College of the Arts. The duo were founding members of the Northwoods Quintet which toured the northwest in educational concerts showing how much fun classical music could be to nearly one million elementary and secondary students.
