Silena Wei Chen
Silena Wei Chen is a photographer and a painter. She uses light as paint and the camera as her brush to create ethereal images to convey a feeling of dream and nostalgia in her work. Many of her works are inspired by the interaction between ocean and sky along the coast. The mystery of the night when the sky merges into the sea is what fascinates her. The ever-changing sky at twilight is her palette. Over the course of a decade, she has built a large body of work. Through those works, her tenet is to celebrate the ephemeral beauty that often goes unnoticed in our life and bring a feeling of peace to the viewers.
Silena also explores oil and acrylic painting. Searching for the harmony and collision of colors using oil and acrylic is an alternate way for her to represent the places where dreams and memories linger.
Silena has exhibited her work at various national juried art exhibitions and won multiple awards. Her works have found homes in many states in the US, as well as in China, Japan, the UK, Germany and Spain.
Silena holds a Master’s Degree in Computer Science from the University of Arizona and had worked as a professional software architect and engineer during most of her career.
