Susan K Miller
Susan K. Miller is a mixed media artist residing in West Seattle. She is a signature member of the National Collage Society and the Northwest Watercolor Society, and was elected to Women Painters of Washington, where she currently serves on the Executive Board. Her work has been juried into shows on the West Coast and in New York. Susan teaches both collage and mixed media travel journaling workshops.
Her paintings are a complex and organic layering of watermedia with handmade and found papers — a process she calls “painting with paper.” Susan first started adding a few bits of paper and local ephemera to watercolor cityscapes almost 20 years ago, as a means of adding both texture and a degree of abstraction to her watercolor cityscapes. Within a year she was hooked, and has been incorporating both found paper and paper with watercolor added into her paintings ever since. She hopes that close inspection of each artwork rewards the viewer with many surprising details to keep them engaged and maybe amused.
