Winter Show of Miniatures and Small Works

Parklane Gallery invited 2D artists to enter our 2020 Winter Show of Small Works and Miniatures. This year our annual winter show will be a 2-month event, November and December. We will also include miniatures! The show will feature a wide variety of smaller pieces sure to delight, either as a holiday gift or a new treasure for any space. Accepted artwork will be shown online and in the gallery in two collections: Miniatures, which meet international miniature standards, and Small Works. These small treasures will be on display November 5 through January 2 at the gallery as well as available on our online store.

AWARDS

Two-dimensional artwork, including photography and digital art, will be shown. Awards will be given including Best of Show for Miniatures $200, Best of Show for Small Works $200, plus numerous specialty and subject matter awards.

Award jurying will be done in person after accepted artwork has been received.

[[ ** SPECIAL NOTICE **]] These are unprecedented times and the future situation of public health and business restrictions is  unpredictable. Parklane Gallery will follow any COVID-19 -related guidance for businesses and individuals that is in place in November. For this reason, a gallery presentation cannot be guaranteed and if necessary, this show may be presented online only.

SIZE REQUIREMENTS

Work must not exceed an image size of 144 square inches AND the longest side including frame must not exceed 12”.
a) Work is considered a Miniature if the image size (frame excluded) does not exceed 25 square inches. The artwork will exhibit minute attention to detail which can be enlarged or withstand close inspection without revealing any faults, and otherwise meet the spirit of international miniature art.
b) Work is considered a Small Work if the image size does not exceed 144 square inches and the longest side including frame does not exceed 12”. For example: a 12×12 canvas would be acceptable if it is unframed and the sides appropriately finished and suitable for hanging. Pieces smaller than 25 square inches may be considered Small Works if they do not meet the standards for a miniature.
c) When submitting a piece, artists may use the description field to specify their intent to consider the art a Miniature or Small Work. However, Parklane Gallery reserves the right to re-classify entries as needed, to meet size and style qualifications.

FRAMING REQUIREMENTS
1. All entries must be framed, wired properly with D rings. On very small work a single D ring or sawtooth hanger is acceptable.
2. The back of the frame must be neatly finished and professional
3. No sectional frames or glass clips. Unframed work will be considered as a Small Work.
4. All accepted work must have a label with the following information attached to the back:
